hen the Portuguese came to Goa they established their capital in Old Goa . At its zenith Old Goa was a metropolis with a population of 2 lakhs. With its Geography similar to Lisbon in that it consisted of 7 mounts, it was said that “Anyone who has seen Goa, need not see Lisbon. Surrounded by two fortifications and having a many architectural splendors, Old Goa is but now a mere shadow of its past. However form the few monuments that have stood the test of time, one can get and idea of the glory of this city that was called as the Rome of the East.
